Community Integration Counseling (CIC) and Community Psychiatric Support and Treatment (CPST)

At KIGI, we offer Community Integration Counseling (CIC) and Community Psychiatric Support and Treatment (CPST) to help individuals manage emotional difficulties after an illness or injury and cope with mental health or substance addiction challenges. These services are provided in homes and within the community, rather than in a clinic setting.

  • CIC is tailored for individuals in the NYS Department of Health Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Nursing Home Transition and Diversion (NHTD) waivers. It supports participants in adjusting to life changes, typically provided in the home.
  • CPST addresses mental health and addiction recovery through the Community Oriented Recovery Empowerment (CORE) program, offering counseling services for both participants and their significant others.

Both services may be provided on a one-to-one basis or involve family members. KIGI’s clinicians offer critical support for those dealing with recovery from substance addiction, mental health issues, injury, illness, or disabilities.

How CIC and CPST Help

  • CIC Services assist individuals in coping with altered abilities, revising long-term expectations, and adjusting to new roles with significant others. Counseling sessions typically take place in the participant’s home and within the community.
  • CPST Services provide in-home and community-based counseling for individuals and their families dealing with mental illness or substance addiction through the CORE program.

Both services focus on helping individuals reintegrate into the community and manage emotional difficulties, offering a personalized approach to recovery.
